It’s neither diecast nor a car, because it’s injection molded and a tank.

This is the Land Raider Mk. III. A massive battle tank used by the Space Marines in the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game. It’s kind of a hybrid tank/troop transport, as it is not only heavily armed (twin lascannons on each side, baby!!), but also features a front-opening troop hatch, making it an excellent assault vehicle.

I used to play a lot of Warhammer 40k when I was in high school, and it is painting miniature soldiers that helped me hone my detail painting skills. Those miniatures are for another day, as this thing is huge.

Unfortunately my Warhammer days were disrupted by a move from one continent to another, and the subsequent move into the dorm at college, leaving no room or time for Warhammer. So this bad boy went into storage. The box moved with me from my parents house to my various apartments after graduation, and ended up in my basement after marriage. Fifteen years later, maybe it’s time to finish it.

It’s not even that far off! One of the heatshields over the exhaust in the back needs some paint, the turrets are yet to be finished, with one needing paint, the other needing paint plus half a gunner, and of course I need to add a ton of little details and weathering.

I’ll keep you guys updated on the progress if there is any interest, and perhaps show some of the other miniatures that I have laying around in the process.

Enjoy the rest of your fridays!
