In this series I will showcase DLM cars ranging within the 1/64 and smaller. From a tiny 3 wheeled vehicle from my previous blog, the next TLV series I will introduced will be slightly bigger albeit still a compact car with my 27th model, the Subaru 1000 Super DX by Tomica.

Before all-wheel drive became the norm for Subaru, the Subaru 1000 was the first front wheel drive Subaru produced by Fuji Heavy Industries that was in the Japanese government “compact car” classification. Formally introduced on October 21, 1965 at the Hilton Hotel Tokyo. It was available for purchase May 14, 1966 with a national release in Japan in October 1966.

These cars featured a unique water-cooled, horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine, with overhead valves operated by pushrods.

This TLV model was originally released in Sept of 2008. As usual with TLV, the details are great for such a small scale except the line that shows the trunk isn’t as prominent or maybe it’s just the lighting. This one also comes with nice white wall tires.

Besides the sedan, Subaru also introduced a wagon version. Here is what it’s based on.
