I used to be able to remember exactly what I have in my collection. However, I’ve clearly aged, in that I totally forgot about this unremarkable piece in my collection, until I recently saw a familiar looking post on ebay...

Now that I remember... I acquired this piece for free, as part of a TRU Hong Kong promotion, in 2016. Based on the tampo, it would be safe to presume that this is a promo piece that actually dates back to 2001.

All-around, it is a decent piece for the era. Door handles and trim pieces are appropriately detailed. Also comes with fat wheels. With the black paint, there’s a certain presence with this piece.

And so you ask, what’s wrong with it? Why was the distributor digging these out from the archives more than a decade later?

Safe to assume, it’s the tampos that ruined it... It’s easy to talk about rubbing the tampos off, but rather than permanently modifying my Tomica, I have a more viable solution here...
