As I look back on my posts for 2018 I realize that I was really crazy busy this year! I didn’t get hardly as much work done on customs that I wanted to. I didnt take any diorama pics and I hardly worked on my off-road diorama.
But, I had plenty of time to fart around on the tablet and window shop eBay... So, there is no shortage of new cars in my collection for 2018. Here is my top ten list for this year :)
Coming in at #10 is this fantastic Tomica Nissan Pulsar. Mr. Fintail was kind enough to sell this to me. It’s every bit of terrific Tomica quality in a quirky little Nissan Sports car that all remaining examples have pretty much rusted away to auto heaven. I am happy to finally have this in my collection.
#9 is a Playart Volvo 343. I had been stalking these on eBay for a while. The one thing that I love to collect more than any other is: diecast cars that are based on real cars that you would never expect a diecast car to be made for... ;) Yep. this fits the bill.
#8 Yatming Chevy Chevette. Stupid little wretched Chevy hatchback made by Yatming during their glory days when they put 110% into making awesome cars with great quality details? OMGBBQ be still my heart.
#7 MonsterJag custom by Noodles. The great story behind this car is that I sent Noodles a Lesney Jag carcass for him to y’know... do his thing... (cut in half, add 6 wheels, turn into a submarine, etc etc.) to my surprise, he turned it into a badass monster vehicle and sent it back to me as part of a HWEP! Thanks again. This is totally one of my favorites this year :)
#6 Mira Seat 1200 Sport. Not only is this a really great diecast... but it also introduced me to a pretty awesome car that I had never known much about. I got this for a great price and its pretty much in mint condition.
#5 HotWheels Seasider. This was found in a basket of cars at a yard sale over the summer. I actually bought the whole basket for $7 I think without really looking through all the cars. When I found this at the bottom I was insanely happy. I adore the design/paint on this car and it has become my #1 favorite redline in my collection.
#4 Hotwheels Saturn Ion. I had been hunting this one for a long time as well. Surprisingly, the plain blue version below is really hard to find for a reasonable price. I spotted this one in some pictures where a seller was selling a 5 car lot of ferraris and whatnot. I guess they thought this was sporty because its wedge-y. Glad to finally have my first (and probably only) Saturn in my collection.
#3 Majorette Citroen-Maserati SM. This is a recent acquisition (arrived in the mail yesterday actually!) I’ve been hunting for one of these for a few years but I refuse to pay the insane prices that they fetch on eBay. Finally got one for $9+4 for shipping. Which is perfect for such a cool car. Paint job has some playwear, but all the fog lights are intact and I really wanted that. The fragile lights are often missing on this car. Finally have one!
#2 is my Birthday gift to self. The Matchbox Superchargers were some of my favorite toys as a kid. Taurus was the only one of the original Monster Trucks from that series (Hawk doesnt count) that I didn’t have in my collection. When a near perfect example popped up that wasn’t an arm and a leg I couldn’t resist. I love these old trucks.
#1 is my 1:64 Grail Car. Corgi Juniors Jensen Interceptor. This car has been at the TOP of my want list for so many years. But, it’s super hard to get one for ok-ish money. I took a swing on an auction style one that had subpar pictures. Not only did I win it, but the pictures didnt do it justice. It’s practically mint and just amazing. I love this car and this is the exact model from Corgi that I always wanted (with the chrome hub wheels). I am insanely close to getting my 1:18 grail car... so I might hit both in 2018!
Thanks for looking and thank you for being an awesome community. LaLD is such a fantastic place to see all the great cars and collections out there. You are all awesome! :)
