I’m really in love with all things classic Japanese right now. It seems that much of car culture is too, from resto mods to the auction blocks. Can you blame them though, such a variety of amazing machinery?! I give you HotWheels Toyota 2000GT.
I’m glad HW did this cast, this car never really got the attention it deserved even in its day. I’m also glad that the interior was done with the racecar example in mind, a nod to the purpose of this models existence. It’s really unfortunate that this car was a dissapointment to Toyota on the track and that they pulled the plug so early in production.
I knew this variation would take well to customizing with it’s shiny/sparkling black paint work. Also, if you’ve been following my customs for the past year you should know my style by now, Gold Wheel All Things! In my futile attempt to only use Sharpies with my customs I’m finding myself more and more frustrated that they do not offer an extra fine tip silver as I feel my bright work accuracy is lacking.
I left the ride height alone on this one, I felt this wasn’t a stance candidate and that it had a better vintage racer flavor as it sits. The interior got a full detail and though I didn’t photograph it so did the underside. Custom exhaust tips were fabricated as I felt the original casting was weak. I’m playing with a new light source so excuse the wide variety of editing techniques.
