Big things with little cars
Big things with little cars

Yesterday, my wife and I volunteered to do a promotional event for the cat shelter. As luck would have it... the pet store we set up at was about 10 mins away from some of my favorite antique mall/flea market haunts. I took a quick *cough*two hour*cough* break from the event and did some hunting. I am totally glad that I did.

I scored some excellent cars and stumbled upon some amazing Majorette gems in a bucket @ .50 cents ea. Snagging the Monogram exacts was a last-second decision... $3 seemed like a great price for the set.

I really really want to focus on just 1:64 scale cars. But, when I find things like the Ford Sierra / Merkur Xr4i and a Ford Escort panel wagon... my focus goes completely out the window. The struggle is real.

Nice little HAWL for the day. with the most expensive item being the Monogram set at $3

I had one of these as a kid (one of my first HW with real riders). This one is in near mint condition. Found in a bin of cars for $1 ea. Love this car. So many great memories!

Just like my policy for “no Isuzu Left behind” No Toyota Lite Ace will ever get left behind on my watch. Especially if its in a bin of cars for 50 cents! Woot!

Matchbox Superkings Ford Sierra xr4i. This car is just awe-inspiring. very minimal playwear, pretty dusty. Only $2.50 it was going home with me. I still think these Superking wheels are some of the nicest looking wheels on any diecast car. They look so sharp.

Also at a measly $2.50... Ford Escort Panel Wagon mail carrier. Both rear doors intact. This is made by Corgi. I love it and I would totally daily drive on if I had it. When i find a diecast of a car I would DD... it goes home with me.

Not one... but TWO Triumph TR6 track day cars. Slightly steep at $2 ea. But better than paying shipping on ebays.

Not a huge fan of the imperfect black fat stripe on the side of this Buick. But, it doesnt suffer from big rear wheel syndrome and it has a removable hood (i think). I’m probably going to DLM this and de-tampo the side for a nice clean look. Love me some BUICK!

I am not a huge Mustang fan. But the fox body era has to be my favorite. The paint on this car is stellar! The tampos? not so much. I am going to DLM this and remove the tampos / do some detailing.

I passed on this Gasser a month ago and regretted it. So glad it was still there! I snagged it this time and I love that Mattel used dirty chrome instead of full chrome on this. It has a gunmetal appearance which is amazing.

Really not 100% sure that I really want to hold onto this Monogram set. If any of you mini-car lovers are interested in a trade let me know!
