This is one of my favorite models. To me, the 928 is a bit like a manatee: so ugly that it’s cute. Everything about it is proportioned somehow wrong. The wheels look ridiculous, the square wheel arches look just as dumb as the ones on the Chevy Silverado, the black band around the front/rear bumper looks out of place, etc. But is is the only car in history that looked best in brown, and I want to own one in real life if for no other reason than to experience a dogleg manual gearbox.

The engine bay is really gorgeous. The 4.5L V8 may not have been much of a powerhouse, but it looks fantastic (yes, I know 220 hp was respectable for 1978)

Oooohhh! Frogeye pop up headlights! So cool! There’s a little switch underneath the front bumper to toggle them up/down. Unlike my Ferrari F355 model, these pop up headlights stay securely in the upright/downright position.

Just to be pedantic, Porsche never offered blue houndstooth seats on the 928. AutoArt did this because they make a blue version and these seats were just a carryover for the green and brown versions. Nonetheless, I think they look stellar. It’s such a dumb look, but so appropriate of the late-70’s!

The rear hatch stays open thanks to the two hydraulic struts. It’s an unnecessarily large opening for such a shallow storage space!
