Well, I didn’t come home empty handed. I found a little toy store not too far from the hotel. While they had a big spinning rack of pull back vehicles (like you find at the drug store)... they also had a very small selection of hotwheels. This She-Hulk van caught my eye. I snagged it mainly for the wheels. But, I might strip this van and give it a repaint. It’s pretty sweet looking. But, I was never hulk (or she hulk) fan.
Just before I went on my trip to Texas, my wife and I visited the Mall up in Rutland Vermont. It’s a sad sad sad place, chock full of crushed dreams and sorrow. Pretty much half the mall is vacant and the stores that remain are all nothing really special. It’s a quiet reminder of a bygone era before the digital age and online shopping.
But, I was excited to head up there because the Mall Does have a K-Mart. Well... for now. We had arrived to find that they were starting the first day of store closure clearance sales *sad trombone*
All Toys 25% off. HW rack and main aisle was filled with enough pegwarmers to sink a ship. BUT, they had just stocked a ton of Johnny Lightning cars. I picked up the Vega Wagon and the Monza which have been on my want list forever. For giggles I also snagged the Dodge Warlock which is pretty sweet.
eBay has been strangely good to me lately. I won this Mazda RX3 Savanna auction with a pretty minimal bid. I was dead convinced that someone would outbid me, but it didnt happen. Full review soon!
Also added another Mira car to my collection. Doesn’t get any better than a Renault 18 Wagon. Yeah I have issues.
I’ve been bid stalking wheels forever on the bay. I picked out a couple sellers that I was interested in... but the prices were just a bit more than I wanted. One of the sellers from Malaysia had a really great sale finally and jumped at the opportunity. I’m glad I did because the quality is amazing. Terrific variety of wheels most of them comolds with really crisp lettering. I cant wait to do some more wheel swaps.
Another recent ebay arrival is this amazing Mitsu Delica van. <3
And I picked up a greenlight jeep that matches my 1:1. I was going to take a picture of it in front of my 1:1... But it’s back in the shop with a blown power steering pump/master cylinder whatever. This is why I really should just stick to diecast cars and be more responsible with my 1:1 car purchases.
