Big things with little cars
Big things with little cars

This was the first proper model I ever had, given to me by my late grandparents when I was about 6. Fond memories of playing with this on the floor of grandpa's shop. It's 1/18, and almost 30 years later it's patinated nicely and now has pride of place among the few models I have room to keep out in the house. Of course, it's not the best model of a GTO ever made, but it's generally accurate, and having seen real 250s in action at Laguna Seca, I think this does a fine job evoking the spirit of those cars. To car-crazy 6 year old me, this was the best thing ever, so while I later graduated to much more expensive & accurate scale cars, this one remains my favorite.

I have another one of these that I built a few years later that I intentionally weathered to look like a beat-up race car. I'll dig that one out soon. Again, sorry for the pic quality, I'm new to this.
