So I bought this GL ‘70 Oldsmobile 442 because I wasn’t going to pay $7 for the police truck I wanted, and it looked unique and I don’t have many Oldsmobile cars in my collection. The rabbit hole of awesomeness just went deeper after that.
It came with a card, but the image looked like it was taken from an old photograph. I googled the car with ‘Goodyear grabber’ (which was on the side). To my surprise, this car was modeled after the one that actor James Garner. Now, I don’t watch much tv or movies, so that wasn’t too relevant to me (except this is now the coolest celebrity owned car ever). What is interesting is that Garner’s 442 was converted to a baja vehicle, complete with larger tires and a lift kit! This means a new car for the backroads diorama!!!! :D
Here is the car in all its glory. This casting was modeled after the 442 back in 1970, back when Goodyear was the main sponsor. The car was lost for 30+ years, and was found be complete accident. It was brought back to specs and currently uses Goodrich tires.
A side view. It’s definitely ‘blue’, lol. The blue rims do look odd, admittedly.
The engine compartment looks fantastic with the black inside. It gives an illusion of depth.
Next to the GT-R. A AWD legend versus a muscle car converted to a baja ? Interesting races are going to happen...
This, this is an epic pic.
Look! People are racing!
Watch out for the cop!
With this purchase I now have four vehicles to race with; a baja bug, the 442, the R24, and a Trans Am. :).
