You read that right, folks! Hot Wheels is doing a Volvo, and not just any Volvo, one of the iconic ‘Flying Bricks’, the 850.

This, like the recently unveiled Subaru 22B STI, Honda EG Civic, and Porsche 944 Turbo, will likely be debuting in the 2020 mainline.

This is a first, for certain, but not in every way.

...back in the late 70's - early 80's, there was a Hot Wheels branded 1/43 scale 343 Turbo, which was actually manufactured in Italy by a company called Mebetoys, which was acquired by Mattel in 1969.

In this scale, on the other hand, Volvos have largely been exclusive to Hot Wheels’ sister brand, Matchbox, including the pre-Mattel Container/Flatbed Truck, 760, and 480 ES.

So, yes...this is pretty major news, and I can’t wait to see what colors this will be offered in.
