Another Franklin Mint. Like the Boss 429 posted Tuesday, this car was also purchased at Dad’s Cats by me many years ago, when The Franklin Mint was in my mind the top end of the die-cast spectrum.

Also in common with the Mustang, this one is full diecast and very heavy and sturdy feeling. Unlike that one, however, this car is limited and numbered and I have a nice, low 0087/2500. But, of course, this one is no more or less rare than, say, 1743/2500. This numbering is specific to the black color. There are almost more common red ans silver versions.

It’s hard to get the 300SL wrong and The Franklin Mint did a pretty good job. I’ve had a Bbruago 1/24 300SL (in black, even!) and this one is miles and miles better in every single aspect.

This was also my frist model that used a soft material in the interior. That was really neat to me back in the day and the plaid pattern on the seats really accents the car nicely. Unfortunately, the hood doesn’t hold itself up very high.
