Big things with little cars

Car Week: Riding on Air

Day two of Car Week, the 2000s. I could probably throw a dart at my collection and it’d hit like three or four models perfect for this day, but I figure it’s probably preferred to stick to new models never seen here. Today, I have on offer a 2000 Mercedes-Benz CL500 by AutoArt in 1/18 scale.

I purchased this model recently while I was in the mode to collect as many Mercedes models as possible. I had realized that I had none from the early 2000s, and decided that needed to be remedied. i’m not exactly the biggest fan of that era of Benz, due to the poor quality and reliability issues, but I do find this generation of CL to be quite breathtaking regardless.

AutoArt made quite a few different variants of the C215 chassis Benz, ranging from the V12-powered CL600 to a few Lorinser modified cars, all ranging from 1/43 to 1/18 scale. This particular one, however, is a dealer edition model which came upon a granite base. Said base was unfortunately damaged, as was one of the wheels on the car, but after some repairing I’d say it’s all as right as rain and all things considered, definitely worth the $70 I paid for it. It’s probably as righteously 2000s as any luxury car can be.
