Every Year in July, Charlestown NH hosts a town-wide yard sale. I also volunteer at the cat shelter in Charlestown and we participate in the yard sale as well. It ends up being a pretty exhausting yard sale day for my wife and I. We stop at the shelter super-early to help set up and then we head out on foot to hunt for treasures. 8 to 4 of non stop walking/driving and I think we probably hit close to 40 or 45 yard sales total. It’s a full day for sure.
I got pretty lucky this year. The super mint Structo Livestock truck is going to get flipped on eBay since I don’t collect big metal trucks like this. The price was ok. Early in our hunt I found a small wicker basket filled with vintage cars, the lady wanted $15 for the lot, twist my arm. The F&F cars were all in a free pile (?!?) hardly played with, those will get flipped on the ‘bay. Toward the end of the day we hit one of our last stops and the lady there was sifting through two tubs of carded Hotwheels. She hadn’t even put them out for sale yet and was kind enough to let me pick through and pull out a few gems.

This Structo Livestock truck has never been played with. Just insanely mint. I was hoping these had a high value on eBay (and I forgot to check my phone again...) $24 seemed a little steep, but I went for it. I’m hoping the condition will earn me something in the $50 range when I put it up for sale.
Jada Toys Brian’s Skyline is gently playworn and missing a headlight. :/
Charger/Challenger/Camaro are also gently worn. But have all their plastic bits intact. Crazy. To the bay they all go.
The $15 basket included this Zee Toys friction fire truck. Charming, but not my thing. To the ‘bay with it!
I had one of these Go-Cars when I was a kid (the Torino). This Maverick was in the basket as well. I could not remember where these cars were sold... after a bit of google searching these were included with boxes of DETERGENT from Proctor and Gamble. Mind blown.
Also in the basket was this super awesome MBX Esso tow truck. I’ve never seen one of these before and it’s pretty awesome. I’m glad it still has all the original tires.
Back to the free pile... (same one) I found this Mbx military rig. I wanted to pick one of these up when they were at Walmart. But they were too expensive in my opinion. Totally happy to pay nothing for this.
more from the $15 basket... Dodge Trucks dumper trailer and GMC truck with sand trailer.
Cragstan Chevelle Ambulance made in Israel was at the bottom of the basket. Pretty cool.
also in the basket... this appropriately colored black and gold Merc. Couple of beat up redline hotwheels. A matchbox VW Bug with Metal rear wing that probably impaled many a parents foot back in the day. WTF were they thinking? VW van, husky fire truck, couple more blackwall HWs.
And also, this fantastic Redline HW Seasider (missing boat much sad). This car is just amazing and made me insanely happy when I found it in the basket.
The Lady with the carded hotwheels also had this 1 loose car... The most BRITISH diecast car ever made. A Corgi Lotus Europa in British Racing Green with a Union Jack Flag on the side. *mic drop* All the other cars can go home now.
The tubs of carded vehicles were just filled with all sorts of cool stuff, mostly Cool Classics HWs, which I dont really collect.
I had already bitched and moaned about how the current VW Golf looks god awful. Most of you pointed out it was due to the mold being used for too long and getting worn out. This early Golf looks crisp and clean :) Glad to have found this one.
Too late for Radwood :(
Couple of Bugattis for Sharpspeed since he’s in love with them.
Couple of F430 Spiders because they looked cool.
One of my most fav HW paint jobs ever. I am a sucker for plane graphics on a muscle car. It just looks right to me.
Also... too late for Radwood :( Zender Fact 4. Lol based on a sporty import!
It was a good hunt. I was going to go to the race at NHIS today and cheer on Ryan Blaney... But, it’s raining in NH right now. Ah well, time to work on customs!
