It’s been awhile since I’ve posted, but, I didn’t want it to just end where it did! I did end up keeping some of the cars for myself and family/friends. In all, 551 of the cars will remain behind. In the next series, I’ll document which cars were removed from the overall collection. Sadly, I was not smart enough when this began to keep track of which box these cars came from, which could be a problem if I end up breaking up the collection to find homes for it, but, I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.
Anyway, the first ones went to my brother. He’s 10 years younger than I am and was about perfectly timed to take over my personal collection at the time I had started to lose interest in them as toys. After he started getting into 1:1 scale stuff, our combined collection (a couple hundred cars or so...nothing major) went into the family garage sale, which Shawn then promptly picked up for a very small amount.
Some of the cars I saved for him were reminders of those good old days (such as the Saab 9000, the Dakota and old Jeeps, and the GTI etc.) and the rest were mostly just because a) I thought he’d like them (like the JDM stuff, old BMW’s, etc.) or b) because I thought it would be a good laugh (like the gold plated Chrysler 300). Good times, good times.
If you need to go back and find the entire collection, here it is:
