Well, guys - it happened! I found a buyer for the whole collection (save for a few more cars I saved for myself and someone I had forgotten to grab a couple cars for). Here’s the amazing part, they were less than 2 hours away.
Here’s the downside, he’s a collector/dealer. So, while I found someone to buy the whole thing, I’m certain the collection will not remain whole. It’s unfortunate, but, the chances that that was going to happen anyway basically zero.
I had nearly given up and was about to start taking pictures of them again in groups or as individual cars for auction. I’m sure that, in the end, that would have gained me a larger return, but the convenience won out.
The buyer did tell me that I am welcome to share his contact information if you guys have any specific cars/groups of cars that you want! His business is Rutland Collectibles in Rutland, VT and his name is Chris King. If you have interest in anything, he can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org (or 802-747-3344)
I should also note that the contents of box 46 (save for a few of the Deloreans) was donated to a childrens hospital in Missouri!
In time I will post again with some more details on the cars that I kept for myself - so, it may be a little while before you hear from me again, but, I won’t disappear entirely!
I wanted to take one more opportunity to thank the LaLD community for all your patience through all of this, your expertise, opinions, advice, and the neat little tid-bits of information!
Just so you don’t have to go back and find old posts if you don’t want to:
And another refresher on the few hundred cars that were set aside:****
