So I was looking at this old Matchbox Holden UTE!! and decided I had to do a wheel swap. Then I found other stuff it needed...

Added some paint details as well as fabricated a tiny alloy tailgate as the original cast missed this crucial part. Perhaps it was in an effort to reduce fuel consumption? It was made at the end of the oil crisis in the ‘70s after all.

It's not perfect but it's a UTE!! If it looks pretty it's not being used as intended. Don't take that the wrong way, I'm all for looking after your vehicle but also like to see a work horse being used for what it was designed to do.

Added a side pipe for for extra red neck points.

Apart from the tailgate missing the only other problem I have with this cast is the small side window, it should be as tall as the windscreen. Oh and the rear window as well! May open that up as the glass is there anyway. Still love this cast though.

Stock and not. Didn’t take any before shots apart from the one above and the visit to the lake post titled ‘Introducing Lake Pothole’. (I can’t post a link now for some reason.)

I'll try and give the bare metal a rusty wash type finish but retain as much original paint as possible.

Happy weekend everyone!!
