A friend of mine used to have a 1976 Ford Maverick. It was this copper color, white vinyl roof and light brown interior.
He bought it in the early 2000s as a project car with a minty body for $700. It had a factory 302 and auto trans. We stripped it down and he bought a ‘95 Mustang 302 and T5 manual trans to put in it, with plans for early smaller bumpers and maybe a Grabber hood.
Sadly, it wasn’t to be, and it was sold to another gearhead for them to complete.
However, when I saw the 1974 Motor Max 1:24 model with the late model big bumpers, I knew I had to paint it up like his and give it to him so that he can always have at least a model of his original car, if not the real thing.
I just need to get the right copper for the exterior, white for the vinyl, and tan for the interior. Silver paint pens should take care of the rest of the brightwork. I’m also planning on getting more detailed than they did with the interior and other minute details. Progress will be updated as the project gets underway!
