So I’ve wanted to recreate a spectraflame finish and I think I am getting close...

First up is this viper in the aptly named Star Spangled Blue from Testors. It’s a special translucent enamel that lets the metal shine through. I had previously fully polished this guy up before painting.

Turned out fairly well!

Next we have a two-tone Nomad. This one was done by using the wire-wheel attachment on my dremel instead of doing a full polish.

I kinda like the brushed metal look of using just the dremel, but I have also noticed the fit of the Nomad casting is pretty awful. Just check out where the hood comes down and where the bumper meets the fenders. Yeesh!

Anywho I think these two turned out ok and I am thinking somewhere in the middle of polished/rough is the money-spot for a spectraflame finish. We shall see ;)
