Dark Side of the Squareback

I finally made a custom Hot Wheels that I am happy with! It’s Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon in model car form.

I started with a red VW Squareback and repainted it a nice simple gloss black to match the album art. Because I started with the red Squareback with gold wheels, I also had to paint those silver. Next I painted the chrome trim and the headlights, and I would have gone back and done these again if I was able to without having to repaint the entire car. The tail lights might have been the easiest thing to paint on the whole car.

I used some masking tape to try to get a crisp outer edge on the prism. I think I left on for too long, because when I went to pull it off the paint stuck to it. I was able to hold the paint down with a brush while I pulled the tape off, and it worked pretty well. Painting the rainbow was really annoying because I had to wait for the paint to dry before I could do anything else, but I’m really happy with how it came out.

i forgot to get a picture of it, but I painted the seats a dark tan to add a little bit more detail.
