Welcome to 10-Cylinder day. A.K.A. Viper and Gallardo day. But with both of those models being well represented, I wanted to pick something different. The Kyosho BMW V10 models come to mind, but their engines are kinda blah. So instead, I give you the iScale Audi R8 V10 Plus. Despite “V10” being in the cars rather lengthy name, all 2nd generation R8s have the Audi/Lambo 5.2 liter V10. In the Plus model, the engine is good for 602hp and 413lb-ft of torque.
This model was my first from the iScale brand. Despite looking dark grey, the official color is Camouflage Green. You don’t see it in these pics because the Chicago skies were equally dark grey today, but it is noticeable in good lighting. I was able to get this model last year for about $55, and it’s quality is about equal to the price. Grilles are closed as you would expect in this price range, but curiously, the grilles for the air intakes behind the doors and lower rear grille are made of actual mesh. The fake ones are cast deeply, so at least they look good. What doesn’t look good is the fit of the tires around the rims. The engine is visible under the now mandatory glass cover, but it looks about as blah as the Kyosho BMW V10s. Maybe I should have done a Gallardo, too.
