That was a bad pun I apologize. Anyways, here’s a rather unique entry: a Ariel Atom V8. Normally engine week would consist of diecast models and would automatically disqualifies any resin models as they’re all sealed. However, the Atom is definitely not your run of the mill resin. The model features an open engine, identical to that of a real one.
Again, this was another model that was never on my radar due to the very fact that I didn’t even know this model existed. However after coming across a sale on CKModels for 50 euros, picking this up was a no-brainer. If you search elsewhere, you’d likely find an example with a price tag of anywhere between $150-$200 which to be frank, is definitely not worth it.
However at roughly $70 shipped, I’d say that this is one of my favorite purchases and investment as the uniqueness, quirkness and out right outlandish design gives the Ariel some major kudo points over models I’ve purchased at a similar price point.
Now.. does it fit anywhere in the collection? Not really. Is it hard to find a good spot for it in my display cabinet? Quite frankly..yes. Would I have bought this if it were priced at $200? No. However... would I sell this now? Nope. Was I pleasantly surprised? Most definitely. Would I recommend getting one? YES.
