Matchbox 20....get it!?? I didn’t even do that on purpose!
Alright, this time we have a Matchbox Box of Matchbox Cars...match match box box. Confused yet? Let me explain:
This is a collection of Lesney/Matchbox cars that are being stored in a classic Matchbox branded carrying case. However, It looks like the silver/red snow plow actually says “Scammel” underneath so maybe they aren’t all Lesneys.
Inside, both trays were full of cars. But, more interestingly was a certificate for the Matchbox Collectors Club. To be fair, this certificate does not have Shawn’s name on it, so, my assumption is that the named collector sold this case to my friend with the certificate inside.
I am curious what honors and privileges are accorded to the bearers of this document! I am assuming someone here knows the answer to this....
Anyway - on to the cars themselves. This is another collection of older cars, many of which were stored in plastic bags. Another old F1 car is in here along with a very old dump truck. The silver/red cabover dump body truck is very familiar to me - however, not from my memories with Shawn. My grandmother has one of these at her house (with the flap still intact) which used to belong to my uncle! I’m going to guess as well that it’s rare to find the BP tow truck with the tow hook still in place and one of the green Ferrari’s may stay with me...especially if I find a triplet since one of the ones here is missing a wheel.
