This Friday is about yet another Land Cruiser, albeit a modern one. Toyota brought back the revered 70 Series to life recently, while keeping the original looks alive (looking at you, Land Rover). A limited number of those (wagons) were brought down to Sri Lanka as well, and most of those went into the hands of Police (especially the Ministerial Security Division which uses them as escort cars). A handful of pickups were also brought in, but they did not catch up well owing to the price.
Ever since the Tomica 70 series pickup was released, I was contemplating on buying an extra and converting it to a wagon. I don’t need to bother now. Tomica has done the needful and it is quite a little diecast to behold. The JAF livery is nothing to complain about, but I wish they will do a civilian version as well.
The stock casting is impeccable as usual, but misses out on some details which the pick up has got, such as the blackened front grille and rear light tampo. I decided to do that myself, and the results are, meh.
Tried to swap the wheels to a MBX 7 spoke, but it was too wide for a good fit, and the original Tomica wheels are not too offensive.
Thanks for stopping by! Have an awesome weekend!
