Hot Wheels Race Bait 308 was originally released in 1978 in Red with 308 GTB on the hood. I’m not a big Ferrari fan but I have always loved this casting and remember having several variations of it in my toy box.

This casting was included in the Golden Machines 6 pack in 1979.

Finding a Real Riders variation in nice shape can be a chore, but it’s well worth the hunt. This casting looks great with the Real Riders.

There was so many great releases of this casting, but my favorite variation is red with gold bw, IMO it just has that classic Ferrari look.

This casting changed names several times causing many to think they didn’t make very many of them. Besides Race Bait 308, they also used names like, Quik Trik, Street Beast, Ferrari 308 GTB, Ferrari 328 GTB, and in the Tattoo Machines Series simply known as “Hot Wheels”. Here’s a Street Beast from the Ultra Hots series.

And don’t forget the many variations released in the color Racers line.

They even used it in the Power Command line. A pull back car, just pull it back then tap the wing and off it goes.

Sadly they retired this casting in the 2004 Final Run Series.

This seems to be a very underrated casting, but I continue to enjoy hunting them and finding ones I’m missing for my collection.
