First Gear '38 International D-2 Pickup Review

Hello Lald! My dad-in-law gave me this 1/25 Speedway (a gas station) special car, made by a little known company called First Gear. No idea ‘why’ he did, he just did it and i absolutely love this car.

Also, my background was chopped up for diorama parts, so we get to see my daughter’s ponies and pirates today, hooray!

Firstly, this car is pretty sweet. It has a lot of details and is well made, which I like. I don’t like the Speedway advertisement on the doors and cab though, but mainly because I am anti-advertising on diecast cars, :).

Fun fact, those ponies are probably in 1/25 scale too.

The hood doesn’t open, but in hindsight that was probably for the best. To have the hood open would mean an obvious joint that would be difficult to hide. But that’s ok because...

Yep, the tailgate opens, :). And the tethers are an extremely nice touch.

I really like the details on this car. That’s a long throw for the shifter, I love it! Plus the bed and cab are two separate pieces, which is epic! The S-10 I have isn’t even like that!

Pinkie Pie is awesome. If you think otherwise, you might be a liar.

That extra tire is made a rubber, not plastic. Too often companies go the cheap route, but not here.

Oddly enough, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie gets the most merchandising.

The rear looks awesome too. I love how the bed has those flares.

This is where the casting truly shines though. These old cars were built on frames, which is replicated here, :D.

The drivetrain is here, the exhaust coming out of the engine, and I believe the green thing is the oil pan. First Gear went all out here!

And they got the differential as well! :D

If you see this car, it’s worth the buy. I definitely recommend picking one up if you can. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a new toy to play with, :).
