For the first time in a long time I was able to check out a store other than the Walmart around the block. No Corvettes, but I’d call it a success.
The Ford GT has been a popular cast here so I won’t share any other photos of it. Instead I’ll focus on the new Formula Flashback cast.
I haven’t really been a big fan of Hot Wheels’ fantasy F1/IndyCar casts over the years. Even the Ferrari Grand Prix Racer I have has its faults (raised track-ready nose).
But for some reason I couldn’t pass this one up. I like it much more than the contemporary Winning Formula cast, which I’ve passed over many times.
The card describes it as having an exposed engine, though “exposed” seems to mean just below the engine cover on the sides directly behind the driver.
Appears to be some sort of flat-6, which doesn’t seem quite right for the 70s era it represents, but I’ll allow it.
Here it is next to the Michael Andretti KRACO-themed, IndyCar-based Thunderstreak cast I’ve had since I was a kid.
