2018 has been one of the best years for Hot Wheels collectors in recent memory, and 2019 is already shaping up to be another fantastic year. We’ve been teased with several new JDM models, transporters sets, new collaborations like RWB, and even opening hood/door models and castings with adjustable suspension. But in a year packed with so much greatness, it’s good to see the basics line getting some heaters of its own — such as the spectacular ‘84 Audi Sport Quattro.

German cars have always had a special place in Hot Wheels collector’s hearts, as proven with the popularity of the VW drag bus, and more recently with the flood of Porsches, Audis, BMWs and Merdedes — in premium and mainline releases. The Audi Sport Quattro is one of those 2019 mainline releases and is a straight stunner for $1.

The car looks every bit of the Group B rally car it’s modeled after. From the Terrain Challenge rally graphics, to the hood vents, to the wide fenders — this thing was made to tear up a race course.

Hot Wheels did an amazing job on the casting’s dimensions, and the stance is just right. The white and red tampos pop perfectly against the walls of the hobby exclusive Greenlight Mechanic’s Corner plain white garage.
