I’m quite fond of the way the HW Laferrari looks... it has no ride height issues, no upturned chin, its durable, and it rolls nicely. And even though it has that big rear wheel issue... it doesn’t look at all strange or “cartoony.” I was disappointed when Mattel lost their license from Ferrari, I thought “not when they were just getting good at it”, for I was eagerly awaiting the zamacs, the black, blue and yellow versions, and other special edition casts. But I guess we will never see them.... not from HW anyway. And the new 1/64 Ferraris from Maisto/Bburago are just terrible.
So I got into customizing the ones I had... starting with this one (pic1 , pic2 ). And I think it went well. I thought that it looked so good that I had to make another one. Maybe give it that ‘hot rodded’ look... so I made this one:
After that, I still haven’t had enough with ‘tinkering’ with the look of the car... “what would happen if I gave it shinier wheels” I said to myself... so I got it some RR wheels and made this one:
After that, I still haven’t had enough. I wondered how it would look like if I gave it wheels from other Ferraris? So I made this one.... with wheels from a Ferrari Scaglietti (speed machines).
So now, after four customs... Im starting to think the Laferrari can pull off anything. Like the Porsche 356, I think any kind of wheelset - as long as its the right size and width, will look good on it? :) Then I remembered I had this old beaten up Boulevard Corvette that had wide tires (pic).... wide enough for a Ferrari maybe? After some measurements I took the chance and disassembled it.
And I think it looks just about right in the silver Laferrari. (pics below)
So I guess thats it for now... I have another red Laferrari that left in “stock” condition, I guess it will have to stay that way.... at least, until I find another set of wheels to put on it. :D
