No doubt you’ve been seeing these everywhere - IG, LaLD, other lesser forums, whatever it may be. That’s usually an indication that something is really, really good. Tomica Limited Vintage is here with yet another banger, perhaps one of their best yet. What else is new?

The subject here is the Honda Civic Type R, of the EK generation. They’ve done Civic hatches before, but those were EG’s and weren’t Type R’s. Well, there weren’t any Type R’s back then. Still, I find these more appealing because they look far sportier than the Si-R’s. Particularly with those classic, white 7-spokes. Yum.

The white and silver ones shown here (MY1997) are part of the first wave of releases, followed by black and yellow ones (MY1999) that recently came out as part of the second wave. If you’re a JDM fan, you’re realistically gonna want all of them. Don’t think about the price; these TLV’s are the epitome of “you get what you pay for”. They even come with working suspensions a la basic Tomica. If you really have to compromise, I’d go with the white and yellow ones as those are signature Honda sports car colors.

If there are any flaws with this model, I can’t find them. Can you? Pretty sure the last time I said something like that about a 1/64 was with TLV’s own R35 Nismo, and that one’s perfect by all accounts. Yes, even in a feature about an unrelated vehicle, I had to bring up a GT-R. Though I don’t have the expansive TLV collection that some others here have, I’m ready to crown the Type R as my second favorite behind Godzilla.
