Forty 3rd: Corgi - Morris J

I will be starting another series of blog which deals with die cast within the 1/43 - 1/50 scale. My first one is the Morris J Van from Corgi.

This cast began in 1989 and was probably based on the Dinky Morris van which started production in 1958. I bought this as the vintage Dinky’s are either too pricey or those affordable are not in good condition.

Corgi and Dinky brands were in competition during that time. To stay ahead of the game, Corgi Toys decided to also include plastic glazing, which lent the models a greater authenticity, and they carried the advertising slogan “the ones with windows”.

Early Corgi’s also included inserts either with instruction on how to operate the model’s feature or asking kids to join the Corgi club.

This one comes with multiple inserts and since this is marketed towards collectors it also comes with a certificate which includes the number of production.

The model looks great without any quality control issue. Unlike vintage Corgi releases, this one does not come with opening features.
