One of my first posts on LaLD was on the Norev 3" Simca Rallye 2 in Radio Monte Carlo rally livery. If you paid any attention to my French Friday posts it should be obvious I’m a Simca 1000 fan. And I’m sure I’ve shared some info on the 1000 now and then so I won’t bother with you that again.

Norev 3" in the back came to look what all the fuzz was about...

I had an idea for this one though. I like to get some movement in my pictures, hence panning shots illustrate my posts once in a while. But I was up for a challenge, I didn’t want panning from the side, I wanted to capture the movement of the car Full Frontal!

For this I constructed a LEGO Duplo cart that moved both camera and car on the road. And that worked as I did a small Proof of Concept with a Delta Integrale. When I took out this 1000 Rallye 2 however, it didn’t. This little car only wanted to roll... BACKWARDS!!!!

Rolling it forward meant the entire road moving with the car along as the rubber on those blocking rear wheels have huge amount of grip with that rubber. So the only thing I could do was... Just make it go the other way around.

Still a huge amount of work to be done to get it the way I’d want. Both composition-wise as technical. The construction is very long and therefor not as stiff with all kinds of unwanted movement as a result, especially with the rear axle on the Simca. I need to find a proper piece of road and I need to find out what background to use, this one ain’t bad but there’s always room for improvement.

The model is an Altaya in 1/43. I adore the front but the rear lights is just chrome boxes with a little paint, a bit of a let-down. Decent exhaust tip, good steelies (should be black though!) but the fact it doesn’t roll is the biggest let-down to me.

It’s packaging is nice with a tilted base-plate, a hard cover and the small picture/”specification” sheet. These usually go for slightly over 12 euros. I like it but if you ask me what I’d prefer: This one or the two 3" Norevs that would be an easy choice. The Norevs. I’d really like Norev to come up with an extra 1000 Rallye, maybe even a Rallye 3 with it’s rectangular headlights.

Little to tell more about this one as I have no idea who the French drivers of this rally-car were. So I’ll just let the pictures do the talking.

C’est ca! Maybe I’ll experiment some more with the Full Frontal moving shots. Maybe not. Anyway, bon Week-End!!!
