Usually I’m quite the informed type when it comes to the European cast market. I always loved Norev’s 3" retro line, you might have seen these from me before. Epic French cars, like the A110 above. Or the R5 Turbo. Or that Goddess.
And the details (just look at the totally correct wheels on the A110, it’s about 1/62) combined with the awesome ‘60-’70's French line-up always gets me excited. Especially the latter. So you can imagine my surprise when I ran into... A TEUTONIC PRE-WAR CAST?
Wait, what did just happen here? How on earth did they come up with this? What is it anyway? It is a Mercedes-Benz W29 “500K Spezial-Roadster”. One of 29 built, 500 for it’s straight-8 5 liter capacity engine, K for it’s Roots Kompressor.
But it’s French Friday so I better stop about this Teutonic pre-war beast. And I better start reminding not to use a white backdrop with chromed casts like these.
And although I don’t understand why Norev came up with this one for their single 3" prewar cast (there’s a lot of French pre-war awesomeness from Voisin or Bugatti!) I must admit I like it. A bold move.
Just those wheels... That’s always a problem with this scale I suppose for spoked wheels. And to compensate for this French Teutonic excuse I’ll just dump some other Norev Retro lines below as I don’t feel like lecturing today anyway ;-)
C’est ca! Norev a un nouvel emballage aussi. Not sure if that’s an improvement: old box on the left, new one on the right.
Bon Week-End! Finally the results of LaLC Car Week will be announced, yai!!
