Since we’ve been seeing plenty of Renault 5 love here on LaLD in past weeks, I decided to bring together my collection (well, mostly mine) of little Renaults, inspired by Jobjoris’s helpful HAWL this holiday season! Granted, this little Renault has received interpretations from nearly every major diecast company from the basic economy hatch to the absolutely bonkers mid engined one: Norev, Tomica, Hot Wheels (two), Corgi, Matchbox, Micro Machines, and many more!
In my collection, each of these little hatches has a different story. The Renault R5 Turbo from Hot Wheels is a rather special one, picked up on a shopping trip (like this one) with the grandparents several years ago. I have no idea what sixth/seventh grade me saw in the car since I was mostly a JDM lad back then, so I’m very thankful that I managed to grab it! The Matchbox here is from my dad’s childhood collection, brought out of its tissue paper wrapping to see the light of day for this photoshoot (I didn’t ask for permission as he was busy, but I promise I was very careful to handle it and put it back afterwards!) Finally, the Norev is from Jobjoris as you can read about here. Picture time!
Thanks for looking! I apologize about the massive amount of somewhat iffy pictures, my diecast photographing skills are still improving and I enjoy using natural light which turned out to be a bit inconvenient because the Bay Area is having a rare bout of cloudy weather for once! See you around LaLD!
