Big things with little cars
Big things with little cars

This is a French-Spanish collaboration - the Renault 4 Fourgonette. The 4 was Renault's answer to the Citroen 2CV in the 1960s and 1970s - very basic family motoring at an affordable price and one of the first hatchbacks ever made. It was assembled not just in France but in various factories around the world including Spain and yes, even Australia. (I haven't seen one in ages, there can't be many left!)

The Fourgounette was the van version, painted here in the colours of the Spanish Policia Municipal. This model is a 1/64 scale model by the Spanish maker Mira who started out in the 1970s making mainly Matchbox copies. Later they introduced their own castings of local and foreign cars. Mira then moved into 1/18 scale models - but the company (or at least their tools) seem to have been bought by Solido - probably around the year 2000.

As far as I can tell, the brand has since disappeared.
