A custom 1957 Plymouth Fury that is. This has been on my long term project bench for close to six months. I decided I wanted to do a simple custom pink car for my daughter and this fit the bill for what I had in mind. This almost became a stock car custom but I’m glad I went the hot rod route. I hope she’ll enjoy this one!

This started life as a premium cast from the Garage series, it was pretty ugly as far as premiums go so into the strip bath. Lesson learned while painting this one that enamel and lacquer do not play well together, so I ended up doing the roof two times before I figured out what I was doing wrong. The body is primered and then sprayed in Testors metallic pink lacquer with Testors lacquer Wet Look clear. The roof was stripped and sprayed in Testors gloss white enamel. I also lowered the car but I was careful that nothing contacted as a requirement of this build was that it had to roll. Interior was sprayed in flat white. I’m not entirely happy with the detailing, especially the proportion of the badges on the side. I do like the paint and stance though, exactly what I was going for. Enjoy!

Final version.
Mock up version, black walls, no glass/interior or clear coat.
Work in progress.
