Big things with little cars
Big things with little cars
Illustration for article titled Got a picture of what hangs out on my desk at work.

These are all Johnny Lightnings that I picked up on the clearance rack somewhere. The Typhoon is a beat the heat series and what can I say if F-Bodies are my biggest weaknesses then first gen S-series trucks aren't far behind. As for the Citations I will explain. As everyone knows the Citation/X-Body Front Wheel Drive was a big deal for GM in the late 70's. One of the locations that GM decided to build a plant to produce these cars was in Southeast Oklahoma City. The plant eventually moved on to other platforms and was shut down when the Trailblazer production ended in 2006. The building I work in now was where at least one of the subcontractors that built sub assemblies for the GM Plant located right across Air Depot. So literally I wouldn't be working where I am today was it not for the funky little front driver from GM. Plus how could I turn down a Citation when I already have a couple of Chevettes in the collection and if I ever come across a 1:1 Chevette that wasn't used up I would consider adding it the fleet if you know what I mean. So there you have it that is the Citation story maybe someday I will tell the Impala story.
