By now, we’re all pretty well acquainted by fully operational concept cars inspired by the legendary Gran Turismo video game series. Bugatti, Nissan, and Mercedes-Benz have all created showstopper, game inspired cars over the past few years. This model here is of the Citroen collaboration with the developers of the game. Manufactured by Norev from France, its a stunning representation of the actual, drive-able concept car that Citroen displayed at the Paris Motor Show in 2008.
I chose the white model because I wanted to be true to the concept car, but Norev also released a red, blue, and matte black version. Flawless Gran Turismo and Citroen emblems are embossed on the front wing over a checker flag. The floating side mirrors mimic a carbon fibre finish. The long stinger tail extenuates the aerodynamic profile.
The doors on the car open billionaire-style, revealing that ultra-luxurious and futuristic interior. Unfortunately the engine compartment is sealed, but that’s predictable for a concept car diecast. My one and only complaint about the model are the wheels. The intricate design is captured well, but the paint job makes them look more plastic than realistic.
Thanks to a Black Friday sale, I scored this model from an online retailer for next to nothing. It was already on clearance, so I got to double dip, bringing my total down to under $40. That’s an amazing bargain for a car like this... just look at it!
