I realized that funny play on words and had to name it. Here’s a look at two very different red semi’s.

I did a lot of browsing this weekend, but with no luck with the HW mainline or other things I was interested in. I did however see a car recently requested here on LaLD, and it’s also a hauler. Too funny!

The Jeff Gordon hauler is by Lionel and pays tribute to his career. I have about 12 of various drivers with matching cars, and I had to pick this up because #IWasThereJG #24Ever. Cheesy, but it’s gonna be weird watching the Daytona 500 this weekend without him on track.

Also, the other throwback is Mack. Lightning McQueen’s truck that dozes off and inadvertently helps the young racecar realize there’s more to life than just going fast. I still can’t believe that Cars turns 10 this year and these are still on the shelves. I’d still like to find the racing Doc Hudson and maybe the Car Talk guys.

No hauling for Mack, but he does have duel stacks, painted connectors, and branded mudflaps because racecar. The Cars cars are typically 1:55, but NASCAR hauler dwarfs in almost every area. I’m sure it’s probably a cost saving thing, but the Mack is mostly plastic - hat, wheels, base - but still has more metal than a typical HW 1:64.

The Lionel however takes the cake. In addition to being a hefty metal body, especially compared to the mostly plastic Mack, it’s held together with about 8 screws. These are just some of the parts revealed by removing the two beneath the hook-up. Big rubber dually wheels and solid axles, even a separate drive shaft! This should be good for detailing.

What would a hauler be without some cars?! Here are the rainbow cars over the years.

I knew this because I had seen the new release online, but the other side has the more recent car with flames. I included a couple other cars from the final season including the final run.
