It’s fairly well known among us addicts- er, collectors, that auto parts stores carry die-cast. So I always try to look around a bit when I’m in one, just in case there are decent Hot Wheels or Matchbox lurking. Alas, that was not to be on my last trip. But to my surprise, something else was collecting dust on their shelves.

This nice looking machine was begging to be bought. The 1/64 claim on the box seemed about right and the detail was pretty good, so I snagged it. It was actually clearanced too! $10 brought it home.

The brand on the back of the box is Rally Manufacturing. After a quick look at their website, this company seems to dabble in lots of random things. So put this one under obscure die-cast brands for sure. There are no markings on the base of the truck or trailer. The truck is clearly a Freightliner Cascadia, but there is no indication that a Freightliner license has been obtained on either the castings or the box.

Out of the box, the truck felt a little large so I got out one of my DCPs which are exact 1/64 to compare.

I’m still thinking the truck is a little large, but not 1/55 which is another common semi-truck scale. It’s close enough to 1/64 for me.

One last note- this thing is HEAVY. The trailer base, sides, and truck cab are all die-cast metal. They definitely did not cheap out with plastic on this one. Overall, it’s a steal for $10.
