Hey guys, it's been a while! I have cut back on the 'bay after blowing things up in December and January and haven't found much locally, but I do have two additions to show. Appropriately, they both are intended to haul something! Allow me to present the Greenlight Hitch & Tow Ram 1500 Big Horn + enclosed car hauler and the Winross Ford LTL9000!
First, the Winross. Winross specializes in promotional semi-trucks that are decorated in whatever promotional scheme their customers order. This particular example is older (copyright year on the box is 1988) but the company is still in business today. They are based in Rochester and actually still do their manufacturing there. Yep, that's right- this beast, along with all Winrosses, was made in the USA. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of Winross semis on eBay, and most can be had for $15-20. Really not a bad deal!
Unfortunately, the casting's aesthetic is pretty crude. But there is not much else wrong with the cab. The construction is solid and the only parts that are not metal are the tires (rubber) and possibly the wheels (potentially plastic). It has a working but unsprung suspension and the tampo stamps are superb.
The trailer again features superb tampo stamps and very little is not metal. Again, there are the wheels and tires. The black stands are plastic. Other than that, this thing is all metal.
I do think the construction of the trailer leaves a bit to be desired. The side panels are separate pieces and are not 100% secure. They'll rattle around a bit when you pick the trailer up. The rear doors do open though.
Next up, the Greenlight!
The detail on the hitch assemblies is just insane. They are a bit fragile, however, and quality control has been an issue with them. I was fortunate to find a good example. Check out the working stand on the trailer!
Obligatory pic with the trailer loaded!
