Let’s start this off with the Hawl first, for those who don’t want to read my rant. I got the new 1/64 BMW ////////M dealer set from the Jeff Koch, better known on Instagram as @the_toy_pimp.
It’s a set of four, and they’re all extremely well done. The set was a steal at $25 shipped, and I got it after three days (pretty impressive for covering 1500+ miles).
Austin Yellow is not my favorite color for the M4, but it’s very well replicated.
They’re very easy to take apart, only being held together by two screws.
These models can easily pass off as Kyosho in my opinion, however they feel much more robust.
I originally fell in love with the M6, due to it’s stunning lines, but my favorite might actually be my least favorite in real life, the M5. It just seems to be the sleeper it’s supposed to be.
Now for my rant time.
I’m about ready to give up store shopping. My town is too small to rotate stock quickly but has several scalpers who get the good stock when it comes in.
Target: hasn’t restocked HW fully since April. GL is hit or miss, JL is all old stuff, M2 has only been stocked twice since getting it back in February. Only Release 2 AW’s. Has had the same 12 MBX for 3 months.
Walmart: Perpetually restocks with F case. No dump bins, never gets the exclusive series. Barely any MBX at all. Restocked M2 for the first time in a year and a half a few weeks ago. AW are a myth. JL are all old stock.
TRU: Best place for HW as it gets every other case or so, MBX is restocked every 6 months or so, GL is hit or miss, M2 a scarce, JL is all old stock, AW is all release 2.
Meijer: only restocks HW+MBX at Christmas, best place for GL and AW, getting every release not long after it is released. JL is all old stock, as is M2.
K-Mart: You’re kidding, right?
Grocery stores: What are Hot Wheels?
Notice a pattern? It’s very frustrating, so I’m going to be relying on trades and eBay to get the stuff I really want. At least that’s the plan...
