Hello, LaLD! - My Love Story with Cars

Howdy! I’m new here, so I suppose I should introduce myself.

The red thing pictured above was my first real “big” model - a 1:18 2005 Corvette Convertible. On a family vacation to California, I bought it for $35 at the Mattel store in LA in 2005, as a 5-year-old. However, my love affair with cars and models began about two or three years prior. I’ve been told that, as a child, I would try to play with the toys of my older brother (by three and a half years), namely Hot Wheels. But my parents read warning labels, and knew that it was a choking hazard. So, despite my cries and pleas, they would have to pry them from my hands. To this day, I still have cases upon cases of the little cars.

As I got older, I began to move away from the smaller-scale stuff and more towards 1:24 and 1:18 scale. Though my model collecting has slowed down a lot since ten years ago (my latest purchase was a Bburago Porsche 997 RS 4.0, White/Red - and that was a few years ago), my undying affection for cars and models has been, well, undying. And seeing all y’all’s posts on here has really re-sparked my interest in models.

Thanks to all of y’all for putting out some sweet content and keeping it interesting around here. As of right now, I won’t be a super-frequent poster here like I am on Oppo, but as time goes along and I (possibly) get more models, I’ll keep you guys updated.
