Big things with little cars

Hot Sixty 4th: The Car that broke the rule

My rule that is as I had said in my previous post that I reached my limit of die cast purchase for the month but this one has been something I anticipated getting but missed out due to it being out of stock before the end of the month it was released. So for my 238th post is the anticipated #09 Nissan Fairlady Z aka the unofficial Devil Z from Tomica Premium.

The official Devil Z car was released by AUTOart in 1/18 which if I remembered correctly was shared by a fellow LaLDer. That version is terrifyingly fantastic (pun intended) as it looks wonderful in Midnight Blue and I really wanted to own one but I tried not to collect a lot of 1/18 due to space. Why terrifying? The car based on the Wagan Midnight manga from Japan has a mind of its own and 3 previous owners had already died because of it.

When Tomy showed a picture of the upcoming release of the Fairlady Z in 1/64 (officially 1/58 according to the box) come February, a lot of collectors were already calling it as Devil Z and I figure this would be my chance to own one.

Although it does not come in rubber tires, the 7 spoke wheels look pretty good and the proportion and detail of the body is great and even comes with plastic head and taillights. But the main thing that attracted me to this was the color and the opening hood with a nicely detailed engine.

So now I have 2 of the iconic anime cars by Tomica (the other one being the AE86) and both are great castings that should not be missed even if you are not into anime or manga.
