So if anyone here has heard of Radio Kanto raise your hand. Unless you live in Japan for a while or know someone over there, probably not.

Here are some juicy info about this set thanks to a member from a die cast forum. This set represents the series SHOWA RADIO DAYS and the station represented is Radio Kanto which is still broadcasting as of today.

As you probably had read at the beginning of my teaser, a man was introducing himself as Yoshi Ikuzo. He is the gentleman seen at the back of the box who happens to be a singer. He used to make public appearances for the station and sing at supermarkets and other venues. They would arrive at the locations in a radio car similar to this Isuzu.

The Isuzu 117 Coupé is a compact Gran Turismo type 2-door fastback coupé which was produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Isuzu between 1968 and 1981. 117 was a codename for a common development program of Isuzu mid-size cars, involving a coupé, sedan and station wagon.

With the 117 Coupé becoming a very popular and desired model, and the advent of the cooperation with General Motors, Isuzu decided to shift the model to mass production.

As I mentioned on my last blog about the TLV Toyopet Crown, I indicated that the front and back of the model is not as refine as it was one of the early releases when Tomica started the TLV series. This newly released Isuzu however is a big improvement as the model now looks very detail and realistic.

Besides the large box, Tomica also included the familiar regular size box.

It also comes with a plastic antennae that you can put on the roof.

Hope you all enjoy this little tidbit. This is Radio Kanto, J O R F signing off for the day. Good night.
