The Custom Corvette was a very popular early casting for Hot Wheels.
The casting’s biggest claim to fame is the fact that the Hot Wheels Corvettes were on the pegs in stores months before the real cars hit the showrooms.
The Hong Kong and US versions of the Custom Corvette vary greatly.
The usual blue glass on HK cars and clear glass on US cars is evident.
Another big difference is the back end. The rear of the US version is a part of the base, where as on the HK car the rear is a part of the body.
An additional difference is found in the wheels. The US versions had large wheels all the way around. The HK version has small wheel on the front with large sized wheels on the back.
