How Important are WHEELS to your model?

Like I’ve said before, I think they are so VERY critical. Not just the size and the style but that they are properly detailed. Sorry no time for a long post this time either on wheel detailing but just a picture of my 1:43 scale Franklin Mint ‘57 Chevy convertible before and after.

The bottom photo is how it comes from the ‘factory’. The top photo is with wheels that I have fully detailed.

This is exactly what I have done:

  • Red rings around the hubcaps to simulate the red steel wheels that are visible around the hubcaps of the 1:1 scale car
  • Blacked out areas around the cone shape of the hubcap at the base. On my 1:1 these are black vinyl stickers; originally they were black paint
  • Red center of the spinner with a gold line to simulate the Bel-Air crest that’s on the 1:1 car.
