Introduced in 1984 and last used in 1996 it returned 20 years later in 2016
The original models where made in Malaysia and China and had opening doors not common on in house hot wheels most opening door castings of the 80's and 90's where corgi re-tools.
Had opening doors front and rear shock towers molded into the interior and short rear bumper
Once again opening doors but only had rear molded shock towers and a longer lip to the rear bumper
Fast forward to 2016's Redline and mainline reissues
The Redline series
Doors do not open and appears to be a re-tool of the 1996 “lost cars of China” toolings but one of the copyright dates is 2012 and I can’t find this being used in 2012/13 could have been a garage or boulevard casting that never was.
2016 mainline (basic)
Aww yes the mainline releaseis where we see Mattel cost cutting at work. A whole new body tooling with 2 rivit posts(prior releases had one post and a hook) a cut out roof so a new window plate with stuff on top could be used. A different plastic base with rocker panels to cut even more metal off the body.
