If I don’t start getting caught up now, I’m going to need to publish a web-series, and no one needs that. So, jumping right in, here are some recent HWEPs that should have been acknowledged sooner (and there are more, so if you don’t see yours, it’s on the way):
Androo was kind enough to pick up these Black Bandits for me. I had looked for the Fiat Dragster for some time, but I didn’t know how much I wanted the 1/2 Ton until I saw it on IG. I really like how the lone shovel stands out against the black body.
Androo also sent the mainline Porsche 993 GT2 to match my previously found $TH of the same casting.
And, finally, an RAOK art cars VW squareback in the third repaint color.
IDM3 posted photos and a description of the Micky D’s lite up Lotus, and when I expressed interest, he said he had an extra he could trade. I didn’t realize it would be a “Mint in Package” one, but there it is! He also sent a couple of RAOKs, the Elko seen above, and a Reader’s Digest Ward LaFrance fire truck, photos of which had been previously shared by Pixel. I was so anxious to get those great wheels off it, I didn’t even photograph it before it was in pieces on the workspace, Photo below courtesy of the bay. Thank you IDM3!
I started the next HWEP with Navyeagleeye86 with the sole intent of trading for the Tyrrell P34, but when he showed me photos of his stash, I picked out a few cars for wheel donors. I got way more than I bargained for as you can see.
Thank you Navyeagleeye86!
The last HWEP I’ll get to today is the one with The JWT. I was looking for the MBX F-100 and he came through with the truck, plus an Acura NSX, and the Caterham you see here:
Thank you TheJWT!
Next are a few recent finds from flea markets and yard sales. The first is a HWs Poison Pinto which had been painted over in black enamel by a previous, obviously younger, owner. Again, I was so anxious to get it apart that I took no photos of it in its found state:
But, it’s ready for work! I may turn it into a funny car, as the base is beyond repair, and I’m not sinking money into a 50 cent car, or am I? I have checked out the passle of Poison Pintos on the bay, looking to see if another base can be had inexpensively.
Next find is a PlayArt Ford wagon, maybe an LTD, it doesn’t say. I almost didn’t bring it home, but it has good “glass” so that’s a good start. I may have to rebuild the one dome light out of epoxy, but I’ll wait and see. I could wind up filling in the holes and making a run of the mill family wagon.
Last, but not least, is another Majorette. I may be getting too fond of this brand, because even though I knew it needed both bumpers, I bought it anyway. I gotta say, my Majorette collection is growing pretty nicely. I’ll do a separate post one day when I have it all organized.
Anyway, this is a Peugeot 405 T16 Rallye Racer. I figure that there is a plethora of off road vehicles gathering dust on the pegs, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find suitable bumping bars, probably with rallye lights already attached. If I don’t get to this right away, it will probably languish on the trades page until I either fix it up or let it go. Any Peugeot fans here?
Finally, I’d like to update all the well wishers that sent me positive messages after my post about possible surgery. I’ve been granted a stay, but only for tests. I had part of the MRIs yesterday, and I’ll finish up next Saturday. I have to have an EMG too, but that won’t be for another few weeks.
I had a physical yesterday, and it turned out that I have extra heartbeats! They didn’t know what to make of it at the time, so I spent the last 24 hours hooked up to a portable heart monitor. It was about the size of an old cassette walkman, similarly hooked to my waistband, and 7 or 8 wires attached to my chest by stickers. I’ll have to wait to see what it told them.
So, I have a little more time to get a few things done before anything happens. I’ll be posting more HWEPs asap, and a few more finds. I still have a couple or 3 outstanding HWEPs to finish, and I’ll be giving my trades page a total makeover. When it’s done, I’ll post the URL. Until then, I’ll just comment here and there, contribute what I can, and be very happy I found this great blog!
Thanks for having me!
EDIT BEFORE EVEN POSTING...I started this novella around noon, and had to run out to the dentist after breaking a filling and cutting my tongue open on the pointy remnants of tooth. I’m back at the keyboard, the blood’s cleaned up, and I have a temporary filling waiting to harden before I can eat anything.
The fun never stops around here...!!!
