Big things with little cars

LaLD Car Week: 2005 Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3-RSR

California-based Flying Lizard Motorsports is one of America’s greatest sports car teams. The team was founded in 2004 and found immediate success in the ALMS GT2 class. In 2005, Flying Lizard went global and entered Le Mans. Their 996 GT3-RSR driven by Johannes van Overbeek, Seth Neiman, and Lonnie Pehnick did well, placing 3rd in class behind two other Porsches.

This was just the beginning of their success, as Flying Lizard would go on to win titles in ALMS and Pirelli World Challenge, and win the 25 Hours of Thunderhill four times.

This is a 1/43 diecast of the 2005 Le Mans entry by Minichamps. I bought this a few years ago when I used to work at a hobby shop. Somehow it’s my only 911 in any scale outside of 1/64!
